Healthy Food on a Stick Ideas for Your Next Party

Aside from corn dogs (Because who hasn't seen or eaten a corn dog?) food on a stick is both fun and festive. And because of the fun presentation, food on a stick is a great way to get people to eat healthier, even if it's just in the form of nibbles.

Here are three fun food on a stick ideas.

Caprese Salad on a Stick. With just four ingredients, you can present 'Well would you look at that!' appetizers that will have everyone reaching for them. Thread 1 cherry tomato, 1 small ball of fresh mozzarella, 1 basil leaf, 1 sun-dried tomato, and another cherry tomato onto a cocktail stick. Repeat, placing easy skewer onto a serving platter. When all skewers are assembled, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Nutrients include: fiber, folate, magnesium, potassium, and vitamins A, C, and K.

Sweet and Salty Watermelon-Feta Skewers. Alternate evenly-sized squares of watermelon and feta cheese onto short skewers. Place on a serving platter, then drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Nutrients include: copper, potassium, and vitamins A, B1, B6, and C.

Antipasto Skewers. Thread small, fresh mozzarella balls, halved artichoke hearts, cherry tomatoes, pitted olives, basil leaves, and bite-size chunks of hard salami onto skewers. Serve an herb vinaigrette alongside skewers. Nutrients include: copper, fiber, iron, and vitamin E.

Shrimp Boil on a Stick. This is a less messy version of a shrimp boil! Thread boiled potatoes, grilled corn on the cob, cooked andouille sausage, and cooked shrimp onto skewers. Season with Old Bay seasoning. Nutrients include: copper, omega-3 fats, protein, selenium, and vitamins B3, B6, B12, and E.
